Nigeria Anti-Money Laundering Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-01

Our framework

For event payments in Nigeria, eventtally operates a risk-based AML programme aligned with the Nigerian Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and CBN guidance for payment service providers. The platform processes those payments via the licensed provider Paystack; we do not custody funds or operate as a money-transmitter ourselves.

Controls

  • Identity verification (KYC) of every seller / event organizer before paid orders.
  • Tiered limits on per-transaction amount, rolling 7-day volume, and concurrent paid events, scaling with KYC tier.
  • Velocity monitoring and automated holds on orders above tier-specific thresholds.
  • Hold periods on ticket payouts that extend until after the event date for new vendors, mitigating "sell tickets and run" patterns.
  • Sanctions screening against names provided during KYC.
  • Reviewer audit logs that record every read of identity data.

Suspicious activity

Activity flagged as suspicious is held pending review. Where required by law we report suspicious transactions to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.
