The Hepworth Wakefield is an award-winning contemporary art gallery and multi-purpose event venue located on Wakefield's historic waterfront beside the River Calder. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, the distinctive concrete building provides a modern architectural setting for conferences, meetings, weddings, private parties, receptions, product launches, filming and photography. The venue combines purpose-built event facilities with exhibition galleries, a riverside café, terrace and the landscaped Hepworth Wakefield Garden. The venue's principal event facility is its purpose-built Auditorium, which features views over the River Calder, Wi-Fi and extensive audiovisual equipment including an integrated projector, large screen, lectern and induction loop. The Learning Studios provide smaller and flexible spaces suitable for meetings, workshops, training and conference breakout sessions. For receptions and social events, the Café provides a particularly distinctive riverside environment, with access to an outdoor terrace and sculpture garden. The gallery's ten interlinked exhibition spaces can also be hired for exclusive receptions, networking and private tours. Outside, the Tom Stuart-Smith-designed garden provides an additional setting for outdoor entertaining. The venue also offers in-house catering, locally sourced and seasonal menus, accessible facilities, parking, Wi-Fi and event-support facilities. Its combination of art, architecture, outdoor space and professional event infrastructure makes it particularly suitable for corporate events, cultural functions, weddings and premium private events.
