Kelham Island Museum is a major industrial-heritage attraction and event venue in Sheffield's historic Kelham Island district. Located beside the River Don, the museum tells the story of approximately 300 years of Sheffield making and innovation, covering everything from skilled craftsmanship and toolmaking to mass industrial production. The museum's historic environment incorporates original industrial features, Victorian architectural elements, workshops, machinery and exhibition galleries, creating a distinctive backdrop for private and corporate events.
As an event venue, Kelham Island is particularly notable for its Upper Gallery, a large, flexible space with high ceilings and Victorian tiles, and the Power Lab, a smaller room suited to meetings, workshops and product launches. The museum also offers the Crucible Workshop for weddings and civil ceremonies. Its venue-hire operation can accommodate conferences, corporate hospitality, business dinners, networking events, exhibitions, markets, performances and wedding celebrations.
The museum can also provide a more unusual event experience by allowing private-hire clients to incorporate the River Don Engine, described by the museum as a 425-ton, 12,000-hp engine, into their event experience. Catering is available through preferred suppliers, while the on-site Millowners Arms provides a fully licensed bar.
