Set on the edge of Scarborough in Scalby, we provide a distinctive event setting where sport, community and the Yorkshire coast come together. Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club has been part of the local community since 1926, and our J. M. Guthrie Clubhouse now provides flexible spaces for business, private and social occasions. Our Qdos Suite and Sponsors Lounge are located on the first floor, with both opening onto a balcony overlooking the rugby pitch and North Yorkshire coast. Each space benefits from under-floor heating, full air conditioning and Wi-Fi, creating a comfortable environment throughout the year. We host conferences, meetings, exhibitions, seminars, weddings, parties, family celebrations and dinners, with our suites accommodating events from intimate gatherings of two through to larger occasions of up to 220 people. For conferences, our facilities can support theatre-style presentations for up to 200 delegates. For weddings, our Qdos Suite can accommodate up to 150 guests for a wedding breakfast and up to 200 for an evening reception, depending on the chosen layout and entertainment requirements. We also provide approximately 300 on-site parking spaces, adding practical convenience for larger gatherings. With flexible event rooms, catering, Wi-Fi, generous parking and an outdoor sporting backdrop, Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club offers an alternative to traditional hotels and conference venues for events of many kinds.
The Qdos Suite is the premier first-floor event space overlooking the rugby pitches. It features an expansive, elegant function layout with direct access to a tiered outdoor balcony. Perfect for large weddings, evening parties, and corporate exhibitions, it comfortably handles up to 220 guests with full catering options.
The Sponsors Lounge offers a premium, versatile setting on the clubhouse upper floor. Frequently merged with adjacent spaces or used independently, this brightly lit room features exceptional pitch-side views and a dedicated bar. It is ideal for mid-sized community banquets, business seminars, and private family christenings.
Hartley's Cafe-Bar serves as the relaxed, ground-floor community hub of the clubhouse complex. It provides a casual setting for relaxed open events, live acoustics, morning breakfast functions, and post-match sports socializing. The space includes an outdoor seating zone, fully licensed bar, and freshly brewed barista coffee stations.
Both principal function rooms have doors leading onto a balcony overlooking the rugby pitch and North Yorkshire coast. The balcony provides an additional feature for delegates and guests rather than being advertised as a separately bookable event room. It is particularly valuable for receptions and events benefiting from outdoor views.
