Lantern Theatre

Positioned in the Nether Edge area of Sheffield, The Lantern Theatre provides an intimate and characterful setting for live performance and selected external events. Our Grade II listed theatre dates from the Victorian era and has a distinctive history stretching back to 1893. We offer an approximately 85-seat auditorium, creating a close connection between performers and audiences that suits theatre, comedy, music and community productions particularly well. Our venue is operated by the Dilys Guite Players, a community theatre charity with a long-standing commitment to local creativity and performance. Alongside our main auditorium, we provide a bar and foyer area for refreshments and audience gatherings. We welcome a varied programme including theatre productions, acoustic music, comedy, charity events, community activities, acting classes and selected external hires. Our small car park, accessible entrance facilities, wheelchair space and accessible restroom help us provide a welcoming environment while our historic atmosphere gives every event a distinctive Sheffield character.
