Cartwright Hall Art Gallery is a major public art gallery and cultural attraction situated in the centre of Lister Park in Bradford. We form part of Bradford District Museums & Galleries and house an extensive collection of paintings, prints, sculptures and other works, including significant works by artists such as David Hockney, William Blake, Francisco Goya, Andy Warhol and L.S. Lowry. Our position within the landscaped Grade II-listed Lister Park provides a distinctive setting compared with conventional conference and event venues. Our facilities can be hired for selected activities, including meetings, group activities, workshops and cultural events. We currently host a substantial programme of exhibitions, workshops, family activities and cultural events, demonstrating our suitability for organised cultural programming. Visitor facilities include free Wi-Fi, lift access to all floors, accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities. Limited parking is available within Lister Park, while numerous bus routes serve the park. We are also approximately a ten-minute uphill walk from Frizinghall railway station.
Cartwright Hall's principal gallery areas provide exhibition environments containing works from Bradford's extensive art collection and temporary exhibitions. The spaces are primarily designed for public art display but can support selected cultural activities and organised programmes. Their historic gallery setting makes them particularly appropriate for exhibitions, talks, workshops and cultural events.
The magnificent central atrium features grand columns, dramatic archways, and a striking black-and-white checkered marble floor. Flooded with natural light from a soaring glass ceiling, it serves as the ultimate backdrop for elegant civil wedding ceremonies, large-scale drink receptions, and prestigious corporate networking events.
