Theatre by the Lake

Theatre by the Lake is our purpose-built theatre in a spectacular lakeside setting beside Derwentwater in Keswick. We are a producing and presenting theatre, creating and hosting a varied programme of drama, comedy, literary adaptations, new writing, family theatre, music, spoken word and special events throughout the year. Our building houses two performance spaces: our 389-seat Main House and our flexible Studio, which can seat just under 80 people end-on or 92 in traverse. We also provide a Lakeside Café & Restaurant and our Spotlight Bar & Café, giving visitors opportunities to dine and relax before and around performances. Our location is approximately a five-minute walk from Keswick town centre and directly beside Lakeside Car Park. We welcome groups, schools and community audiences and can arrange bespoke catering for group visits. We also support accessible performances, including captioned, relaxed, audio-described and BSL performances. Our lakeside location, flexible performance spaces and year-round programme make us a distinctive cultural venue in the Lake District.
