Scarborough Spa gives us a remarkable setting overlooking South Bay, the beach and harbour, combining the character of a historic Grade II-listed venue with the facilities required for modern events. Our seafront position provides a memorable backdrop, while our varied spaces allow us to accommodate everything from intimate gatherings to large conferences and major entertainment programmes. Our principal event spaces include the Grand Hall, Victorian Spa Theatre, Ocean Room and Sun Court, each offering a different atmosphere and layout. We also have the Platinum Lounge, which provides a more exclusive environment for VIP hospitality, private functions and smaller gatherings. We welcome conferences, meetings, training sessions, exhibitions, award ceremonies, weddings, parties, celebrations, live performances and cultural events. Our range of spaces allows organisers to choose an environment that suits the scale and character of their occasion, whether they require a traditional theatre, a substantial event hall or a room with spectacular sea views. Our in-house catering team can support events with food and hospitality, while our wedding service provides dedicated planning and catering assistance for couples and their guests. The Grand Hall is Scarborough Spa's principal large-scale event space. Its substantial auditorium and stage make it suitable for major conferences, concerts, award ceremonies, gala events, exhibitions, celebrations and large wedding functions. The room combines historic character with modern event use and benefits from the venue's prominent South Bay location.
The Victorian Spa Theatre is the venue's dedicated theatre environment and provides a more intimate alternative to the Grand Hall. It is used extensively for touring theatre, comedy, music, children's entertainment and other stage productions. Its traditional theatre arrangement makes it especially appropriate for seated performances, talks and presentations.
The Sun Court Enclosure is a spectacular outdoor event area located right on the seafront. It features a striking, iconic black-and-white checkered floor and a central performance bandstand. This open-air space accommodates up to 200 people. It is heavily favored for sunny morning orchestral concerts and scenic coastal wedding receptions.
The Ocean Room is a spacious, modern hall featuring a unique wave-styled wooden ceiling and panoramic beach views. It accommodates up to 600 guests. This bright space is incredibly versatile and regularly plays host to glamorous dinner banquets, regional business award nights, weekend craft fairs, and lively festival celebrations.
The Platinum Lounge is Scarborough Spa's specialist VIP hospitality environment. It provides comfortable seating, a private bar, private toilet facilities and cloakroom access. Although principally promoted as a premium entertainment upgrade, the space also forms part of the venue's wider collection of flexible event spaces and can support intimate hospitality functions.
Named after Mrs. Thomasin Farrer—the woman who originally discovered Scarborough's natural springs—this venue serves as a grand, open-plan brasserie. The interior features massive white Victorian pillars and a wooden bar setup, where visitors can stop in for lunch, coffee, or pre-theatre drinks while looking directly out onto the South Bay beach.
