Northern Ballet is a distinctive conference, theatre and events venue located in the heart of Leeds' Quarry Hill cultural quarter. Our purpose-built six-storey building opened in 2010 and is home to Northern Ballet, Phoenix Dance Theatre and the Northern Ballet Academy. Alongside our artistic and educational activities, we provide a range of spaces for conferences, corporate events, meetings, private dining, receptions and performances. We can accommodate events ranging from intimate meetings to larger conferences and receptions for up to 230 people. Our principal event space is the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, a fully equipped 230-seat theatre with professional lighting, sound, projection and technical support. We also have seven large dance studios that can be transformed into contemporary conference and event spaces, a fifth-floor Board Suite with a panoramic Leeds city-centre terrace, and two ground-floor meeting rooms that can be used individually or combined. We provide in-house audio-visual facilities, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, projectors and screens, lifts, hearing loops and catering. Our studios offer large, naturally lit spaces with high ceilings, while the Board Suite provides an exclusive setting for meetings and private dining. We are particularly suited to organisations seeking a memorable cultural setting for conferences, corporate events, performances, receptions, dinners and creative events. Our combination of professional theatre facilities, flexible studio spaces, modern meeting rooms and a central Leeds location allows us to provide a distinctive alternative to conventional conference and event venues.
The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre is Northern Ballet's largest event space and a fully equipped working theatre. Its retractable seating accommodates up to 230 people, while the space can also host gala dinners, receptions and conferences. Studio 1 is a large, naturally lit 15m × 15m studio that can be transformed from a dance environment into a flexible event space. It is suitable for conferences, meetings, receptions, private dining and creative activities, accommodating up to 120 theatre-style guests and 60 in a boardroom arrangement.
Studio 2 is one of Northern Ballet's six large 15m × 15m studios. The bright, high-ceilinged room provides a flexible blank canvas for conferences, training, receptions, dining and creative events. It can accommodate up to 120 theatre-style guests, with several alternative layouts available for smaller groups.
Studio 3 is a versatile 15m × 15m event studio within Northern Ballet's collection of large conference spaces. It provides natural light, generous floor space and flexible layouts for meetings, conferences, receptions, dining and creative events, with a maximum published theatre and reception capacity of 120 people.
Studio 4 is a large 15m × 15m studio that can be adapted for business and social events. Its open layout works for conferences, meetings, receptions, private dining and gala dinners. The space has natural light and can accommodate up to 120 people in theatre or reception format.
Studio 5 is a 15m × 15m flexible event studio designed primarily for dance but available for conferences and other events. Its natural daylight, high ceiling and large open floor make it suitable for training, meetings, dining, receptions and creative activities, with theatre capacity for up to 120 people.
Studio 6 is one of six similarly sized Northern Ballet studios that can be converted into event spaces. It offers a large, naturally lit environment for conferences, training, dining, receptions and creative activities. The published capacity reaches 120 theatre-style or reception guests, with smaller configurations available.
Studio 7 is a 14m × 10m flexible event studio that provides a smaller alternative to Studios 1–6. It can host conferences, meetings, receptions, gala dinners and creative activities, with published capacities of up to 100 reception, 80 theatre, 70 dinner and 40 boardroom.
The Board Suite is Northern Ballet's premium smaller meeting and entertaining space, located on the fifth floor with an adjoining city-view terrace. It is suitable for board meetings, private dinners, small conferences and receptions. The room accommodates up to 40 guests for receptions and 36 in theatre style.
The Ground Floor Meeting Room is a compact professional space designed for smaller meetings, presentations and private discussions. It can be hired individually and provides Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a projector and screen, laptop facilities and in-house AV equipment. Its published maximum is 20 reception or 15 theatre.
The Second Ground Floor Meeting Room is another compact meeting space suitable for business meetings, training and presentations. It can operate independently or be joined with the neighbouring meeting room to create a larger space. It provides modern AV facilities, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and presentation equipment.
The Merged Meeting Rooms combine Northern Ballet's two ground-floor rooms into one larger flexible meeting space. This configuration is suitable for medium-sized business meetings, training and presentations, accommodating up to 36 people theatre-style or 40 for receptions. It should be recorded as a combined configuration rather than a separate permanent room.
