Crucible Theatre

Crucible Theatre is one of Sheffield's most distinctive cultural and events venues, located on Norfolk Street beside Tudor Square in the city centre. Opened in 1971 and internationally recognised as the home of the World Snooker Championship, the theatre is famous for its intimate theatre-in-the-round configuration, where audiences sit around three sides of the stage. Sheffield Theatres currently markets the Crucible and its associated spaces for conferences, meetings, workshops, receptions, dinners, weddings and corporate events. The principal Crucible Auditorium provides up to 980 theatre-style places for large presentations, conferences, performances and special events. Smaller spaces include the Adelphi Room, a bright contemporary room with its own balcony and views over Tudor Square; the Crucible Bar and Foyer, which can accommodate receptions of up to 500; the flexible Playhouse/Studio Theatre with up to 400 seats; and the intimate MacDonald Room. The venue provides in-house catering, bars, technical support, AV, projection, PA, staging, Wi-Fi and event-planning assistance. The Crucible and Adelphi Room are also licensed for weddings and civil partnerships. Its city-centre location places it close to Sheffield railway station and public transport, while Q-Park Charles Street provides nearby parking.
