Lotherton Hall and Estate

@ngk2fq

Lotherton Hall is an Edwardian country house and estate situated at Aberford in east Leeds. We are managed by Leeds City Council and combine a historic house, gardens, estate landscape and Wildlife World, creating a distinctive setting for cultural activities and private events. Our property has strong heritage value and was formerly associated with the Gascoigne family and other prominent Leeds families. As an events venue, we offer something different from Leeds' conventional hotels and dedicated conference centres. Our principal appeal is the character of the historic house and surrounding estate. Our Drawing Room is licensed for civil ceremonies and contains historic furnishings including two Erard pianos and a nineteenth-century harp. Our Servants' Hall is used for drinks receptions and has also hosted catered events. We are also capable of supporting cultural programming. Our current 2026 programme includes guided heritage tours, workshops, exhibitions, talks and concerts, with the Drawing Room providing an intimate setting for musical performances. Our surrounding estate provides substantial outdoor space, making us particularly attractive for weddings, receptions, photography, outdoor activities, heritage events and bespoke private functions. The combination of historic interiors, gardens and countryside setting gives us a character quite different from a standard city-centre conference venue.

The Drawing Room

The Drawing Room

£0.00

The Drawing Room is Lotherton's principal documented indoor event space. It forms part of the historic Edwardian house and retains significant period character, including two Erard pianos and a nineteenth-century harp. Leeds City Council has confirmed that the room can host civil ceremonies, while current 2026 programming demonstrates its use for intimate concerts. It is particularly appropriate for elegant, smaller-scale events where architectural character is important.

The Servants' Hall

The Servants' Hall

£0.00

The Servants' Hall provides a complementary event space within the historic house. Leeds City Council identifies it specifically as a location for drinks receptions. Contemporary programming has also used the space for catered activities, including a 2026 art workshop with buffet lunch. Its historic setting makes it particularly useful when an event requires a reception or hospitality component alongside use of the Drawing Room or wider estate.

£0.00

The wider Lotherton estate provides extensive gardens and countryside surroundings that complement the historic house. The grounds are an important part of the visitor experience and provide opportunities for outdoor programming, photography, receptions and bespoke events. The estate is officially classified by Leeds City Council as a country park, reinforcing the importance of the landscape as part of the venue proposition.
