National Coal Mining Museum for England

@ofw0qv

The National Coal Mining Museum for England brings more than 180 years of industrial heritage into the world of modern events. Located at the former Caphouse Colliery in Overton, Wakefield, our museum preserves the history of England’s coal-mining communities through historic colliery buildings, machinery, galleries, woodland, outdoor spaces and an authentic underground mine experience. Our dedicated conference facilities provide a distinctive alternative to the traditional hotel meeting room. The Caphouse Suite accommodates up to 150 delegates in theatre-style configuration and can be divided into three separate rooms: the Hope, Denby Grange and Prince of Wales Suites. This flexibility makes the venue suitable for conferences, meetings, training sessions, workshops and smaller business gatherings. Events can be enhanced with museum access and pre-booked tours, allowing delegates to explore the stories, technology and working lives connected to the coal industry. Our wider facilities include the Miners’ Memorial Garden, Pony Discovery Centre, nature trail, exhibitions and educational spaces. Alongside corporate events, our museum hosts performances, workshops, family activities, exhibitions and seasonal programmes, creating opportunities for cultural and community gatherings. For organisers seeking an event with genuine character, the National Coal Mining Museum offers something beyond a standard conference environment. The combination of professional facilities, immersive heritage and engaging experiences gives delegates an opportunity to meet, learn and connect within one of England’s most important industrial-heritage settings.
