The Foundry is the flagship live-events venue within the University of Sheffield Students' Union on Western Bank. We are a purpose-built entertainment and event facility offering three distinct spaces—Foundry, Studio and Fusion—and are designed primarily for live music, club events, performances, comedy, cultural events and other large-scale gatherings. We are also available for private and corporate hire, making us relevant to an event-centre database beyond our regular student and entertainment programme. Our main Foundry room is the largest space and can accommodate up to 1,065 people, with a substantial performance stage, professional sound system, lighting and acoustics. Studio provides a smaller, more intimate environment with capacity for up to 500 and is similarly equipped for performances and events. We can also be booked as an entire venue with a combined capacity of up to 1,800, allowing organisers to create a multi-room event experience. We are centrally positioned within the University of Sheffield campus and have strong public-transport connections, including the nearby University tram stop. We also provide accessible facilities, including wheelchair access and a disabled viewing platform in Foundry. Nearby Q-Park Durham Road provides parking.
Foundry is the principal and largest room within the venue, designed for large-scale live events, performances, concerts, cultural programmes and private functions. It accommodates up to 1,065 people and features a substantial stage, professional sound and lighting systems and venue-grade acoustics. The room can also be hired independently.
Fusion is the third event space within the Foundry complex and forms part of the Students' Union's multi-room venue offering. It can be used as part of a broader event configuration alongside Foundry and Studio. The operator does not currently publish a separate maximum capacity for Fusion on its venue-hire page.
Studio is the venue's smaller performance and event room, providing a more intimate environment than the main Foundry. It can accommodate up to 500 people and retains high-quality sound and lighting facilities. The space is suitable for smaller concerts, performances, private events, presentations and other gatherings requiring a dedicated event environment.
