Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery is a much-loved part of Carlisle’s cultural life, and we have been inspiring curiosity, learning and discovery since 1893. We are a museum, art gallery and community hub, bringing together world-class collections, exhibitions, events and learning opportunities in the heart of Carlisle’s Historic Quarter. Our collections span more than 10,000 years of human history and include more than one million objects, giving us a unique setting for cultural and community experiences. We regularly welcome visitors to exhibitions, workshops, talks and events, while our café, galleries and gardens provide additional spaces to enjoy during a visit. We are located between Carlisle Castle and Carlisle Cathedral, with our main entrance on Castle Street and access to events in Old Tullie House from our Abbey Street side. We aim to make our spaces welcoming and accessible while connecting people with Carlisle, Cumbria and the wider world through culture and creativity.
