Theatre Royal Wakefield is a historic Grade II* listed theatre located on Drury Lane in the heart of Wakefield city centre. Designed by renowned theatre architect Frank Matcham and opened in 1894, it is described by the theatre as the smallest surviving Matcham theatre. Its ornate Victorian auditorium retains traditional theatre features including red velvet seating, decorative detailing, a proscenium arch and Royal Boxes. The Walker Studio is Theatre Royal Wakefield's flexible contemporary event space, adjoining the Matcham Auditorium. It can accommodate up to 60 guests and supports multiple layouts. The Box Office/Café Bar is a contemporary hospitality and event-support space adjoining the Walker Studio. It includes a fully operational bar, coffee machine and seating and can be used independently for networking or catering, or combined with the Walker Studio to accommodate larger events. The space is fully accessible.
The Dress Circle Bar is one of Theatre Royal Wakefield's hospitality areas and is listed among the venue's spaces available for hire. It provides an atmospheric bar environment within the historic theatre and can complement performances, private functions and receptions.
