Pontefract Town Hall

Pontefract Town Hall is a historic civic and events venue situated in the heart of Pontefract, West Yorkshire. The building and its associated assembly facilities provide a distinctive heritage setting for conferences, corporate functions, weddings, private parties, fairs, concerts, stage productions and community events. Wakefield Council currently promotes the venue specifically for both corporate and private functions. The venue's principal event area is the Assembly Hall/Auditorium, a flexible first-floor space suitable for live entertainment, conferences, shows, fairs and evening celebrations. Current Wakefield Council information gives the Assembly Hall a capacity of up to 120 guests for receptions, while Experience Wakefield identifies a 250-capacity auditorium for larger shows and concerts. The Nelson Room provides a smaller and more intimate setting. It contains the original plaster cast of Nelson's final moments, associated with the sculpture used in the creation of Nelson's Column in London. It can seat up to 60 guests for civil ceremonies, while the Council's room-hire information identifies it as suitable for business meetings of up to 30 delegates in boardroom configuration. The venue has professional sound and lighting, a stage and dressing room, projector and screen, PA, licensed bar, hearing loop, hospitality services and event coordination. A lift provides access to the first-floor rooms, while the venue also has accessible toilets and wheelchair-accessibility provisions.
