The Bowling Green

The Bowling Green (also operating under prominent regional hospitality alignments as The Bowling Green Hotel) stands as a highly attractive, traditional community pub and versatile event venue situated on Wigan Lane, positioned right on the primary northern feeder road connecting Wigan town centre with the Standish district. Located in a mature residential enclave near the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and a short distance from downtown retail hubs, this long-standing establishment functions as a vital anchor for neighborhood socialization, local entertainment, and private gatherings. Having recently undergone full contemporary interior refurbishments, the open-plan venue effortlessly balances original character with modern event utility, showcasing comfortable furnishings, a cozy snug area, and multiple warming log-burning fireplaces. It has earned an established reputation as a preferred choice across the borough for executing stress-free social operations, including lively weekly quiz nights, festive birthday parties, christenings, and celebratory post-meeting drink mixers.
