Lyceum Theatre

@zgd5ec

Lyceum Theatre is one of Sheffield's most distinctive historic event venues, situated in the city centre on Norfolk Street beside Tudor Square. We were designed by architect W. G. R. Sprague and opened in 1897 as a traditional proscenium-arch theatre. We are Grade II listed and were extensively restored before reopening in 1991 following a major £12 million renovation. Today, we serve as Sheffield's principal venue for major touring theatre productions, including musicals, drama, comedy, dance and family productions. Beyond theatre performances, Sheffield Theatres makes our venue available for external events and private hire. Our auditorium provides an impressive setting for large-scale presentations, performances, conferences, exhibitions and special events, while our smaller hospitality spaces can accommodate meetings, receptions and more intimate functions. Our ornate interior provides a particularly distinctive backdrop compared with conventional conference centres. We also benefit from Sheffield Theatres' wider event infrastructure, including catering and bar facilities, accessible entrances and toilets, lifts, hearing-support systems and professional front-of-house services. Our central Sheffield location makes us convenient for public transport and city-centre accommodation. We are therefore best categorised as a historic theatre and cultural events venue capable of supporting both large auditorium-based events and smaller private functions.
