York Mansion House

@49g50s

York Mansion House is a historic Georgian civic building situated prominently in St Helen's Square in the centre of York. Constructed between 1725 and 1732, we are the official residence of the Lord Mayor of York during their civic year and remain an important part of York's ceremonial and cultural heritage. We are also available for private hire and have historically hosted weddings, dinners, receptions, meetings, conferences, family occasions and other special events. Our richly decorated historic rooms include the State Room, Dining Room, Drawing Room and Blue Room, providing a more intimate alternative to York's larger conference and event venues. The State Room has historically accommodated up to 60 guests for dinners or receptions, while the Dining Room has accommodated up to 42 for dinner. The Drawing Room and Blue Room provide additional smaller spaces and can be combined with the larger rooms for private-hire functions. We underwent a £1.3 million restoration programme, with the first phase completed in 2025, and reopened to visitors on 6 August 2025. Because we remain an active civic building and historic collection, private-event availability is likely to be more restricted than at a conventional commercial conference centre. We are particularly appropriate for intimate weddings, civic receptions, formal dinners, VIP functions, private meetings and heritage events.
