The Grand, York is a luxury five-star hotel and major event venue located on Station Rise in the centre of York. Housed in the former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, the building combines Edwardian architecture and historic character with modern hospitality, conference and event facilities. The Chairman's Suite was historically the office of the Chair of the North Eastern Railway. It combines wood-clad pillars, an ornate fireplace and views of York's City Walls. The room accommodates up to 35 theatre, 40 reception and 30 banquet according to the current meeting information and is particularly suited to private dining and important meetings.
The Gibb is an intimate boardroom-style suite featuring dark wood panelling and large sash windows. It is designed for private meetings, private dining and small receptions. The current hotel information gives a 14-person boardroom capacity, with in-room AV and Wi-Fi. The room measures approximately 7m × 6m.
The Leeman is an Edwardian-style meeting suite with high ceilings and large sash windows. It accommodates up to 30 theatre, 12 classroom, 16 cabaret, 12 U-shape and 14 boardroom. It can also accommodate approximately 24 for receptions or banquets. The room has in-room AV and Wi-Fi.
The Ridley provides an intimate Edwardian setting suitable for corporate meetings, client dinners and smaller functions. Its current published capacities are 30 theatre, 12 classroom, 16 cabaret, 12 U-shape and 14 boardroom, with reception and banquet capacities of approximately 24. In-room AV and Wi-Fi are available.
The Cookery School provides a distinctive alternative to traditional meeting rooms. It has 16 cooking stations and two adjoining meeting and dining rooms and is designed for interactive corporate away days, team-building activities and Christmas parties. It can therefore function as both an event experience and an informal corporate meeting environment.
The White Rose Lounge is a contemporary private-event space overlooking York's historic City Walls. Its marble and bespoke wood-panelled interior makes it suitable for intimate functions, drinks receptions and private celebrations. The hotel's special-events information gives a maximum capacity of approximately 70 people.
Legacy is The Grand's fine-dining restaurant and can be incorporated into private events and group dining. The hotel states that it can accommodate groups of up to 30 guests. It is particularly appropriate for private dining, client entertaining, closing dinners and food-focused corporate events rather than conventional conference sessions.
