Located on Knott Street in the centre of Darwen, Darwen Library Theatre combines a public library with a dedicated theatre and community performance venue. Our facilities support cultural, educational and community activities, providing a setting for live performances, talks, library programmes and local events. The building forms part of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s network of libraries and cultural facilities, with the library providing access to books, digital resources, public computers, Wi-Fi, printing and other community services. The theatre element adds a dedicated performance environment within the building, making the venue suitable for cultural programming and smaller-scale events. Its town-centre location makes it readily accessible within Darwen.
Our auditorium features a fixed, raked tiered seating system that holds between 206 and 214 guests. The design gives every seat excellent sightlines to the main performance stage, making it ideal for theatre productions, independent music events, and corporate presentations.
Our refreshed Theatre Bar offers a modern, atmospheric social space perfect for hosting post-show receptions, casual networking events, or smaller private functions. It is fully licensed to serve a range of beverages and light refreshments.
