Playhouse Whitley Bay

Playhouse Whitley Bay is a modern, flexible setting for entertainment, community activities, private functions and conferences on the North Tyneside coast. Our £8.5 million refurbishment created a contemporary venue while retaining its role as an important part of Whitley Bay’s cultural life. We provide a 638-seat auditorium, supported by a glass foyer, front-of-house facilities, bars, lounge areas and a ten-seat corporate viewing suite. Our venue-hire facilities can also accommodate conferences with exhibition space, community organisation events, commercial shows, parties and private celebrations. For productions, we offer professional sound and lighting, video and screen facilities, communications equipment, an orchestra pit, five en-suite dressing rooms and a green room. Our first-floor lounge benefits from sea views, while our foyer provides additional event space. Accessibility facilities, accessible parking and lift access help us welcome a wide range of visitors. With our coastal location and adaptable facilities, we support performances, meetings, celebrations and community events.
