We are Hatfield College, part of Durham University and a distinctive venue located on Durham's historic North Bailey, close to the city centre and with impressive views towards Durham Cathedral. We combine historic listed buildings with modern facilities, providing a flexible setting for conferences, meetings, private dinners, banquets, academic events and social occasions. Our Dining Hall can accommodate up to 200 guests for conference banqueting, while our Birley Room and Senior Common Room Dining Room provide smaller settings for meetings and private functions. We offer professional conference facilities including Wi-Fi, audiovisual equipment, projectors, screens, PA systems, video conferencing and catering support. We can also provide accommodation during University vacation periods, making us suitable for residential conferences and group stays. Alongside our event facilities, our College includes a chapel, library, music room, multi-purpose social and café spaces, sports facilities and a gym. Our historic Durham location provides an atmospheric and memorable backdrop for events of many kinds.
We offer our Dining Hall as our largest event space, accommodating up to 200 guests for conference banqueting. Its historic collegiate setting makes it particularly suitable for formal dinners, banquets, receptions and large gatherings.
We provide our Birley Room as a smaller conference and meeting space with capacity for up to 40 delegates in a boardroom configuration. It is suitable for meetings, seminars and professional events.
We offer our Senior Common Room Dining Room for smaller meetings and private gatherings, with capacity for up to 22 delegates in a boardroom arrangement.
We have our own Chapel within the College, providing a distinctive historic setting for College activities and selected events.
We provide a multi-purpose social, bar and café area within the College, offering an informal setting for social gatherings and delegate breaks. A separate event capacity is not currently published.
