Few venues can place an event among some of the most remarkable achievements in railway history. At the National Railway Museum in York, our spaces bring together iconic locomotives, historic carriages and impressive engineering exhibits with professional facilities for modern business and private events. Since opening in 1975 as part of the Science Museum Group, we have become home to an extraordinary collection, including Mallard, the world’s fastest steam locomotive, alongside royal carriages and historic rolling stock. This heritage provides a backdrop that is difficult to replicate elsewhere. Our Great Hall creates a spectacular environment for large receptions, while the beautifully restored Station Hall surrounds guests with historic platforms and Royal Carriages, making it particularly memorable for dinners, awards ceremonies and receptions. For more focused corporate gatherings, our dedicated Conference Centre provides modern meeting facilities. Across our event spaces, we can accommodate up to 1,000 guests for drinks receptions and up to 450 for dinner. We welcome conferences, weddings, awards ceremonies, Christmas parties, corporate hospitality and private events. Located within walking distance of York Railway Station, we are exceptionally accessible for delegates travelling by rail from across Yorkshire and the wider UK. Whether hosting an important business gathering or an evening celebration, we give guests the opportunity to experience railway history while enjoying a professionally managed event.
