The Old Town Hall provides an arts and entertainment setting in the heart of Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town. We have been an arts space since 1978, while the building itself dates back to 1852. Our venue combines a main theatre with The Cellar Club and Gallery Café Bar, giving us spaces for performances, exhibitions, private functions and community activities. We present a varied programme covering theatre, comedy, music, dance, film and family entertainment, while our facilities are also available for private hire and performances. Our main theatre has 120 seats, while The Cellar Club provides a smaller 65-seat setting. We also provide technical support, lighting and audio/visual facilities for events and performances. Our location on the High Street places us within Hemel Hempstead’s historic Old Town, with nearby public car parks and public transport connections. We aim to provide an accessible and welcoming environment for audiences, artists, community groups and private event organisers.
Our Main Theatre is our principal performance space, providing 120 seats for audiences. We use the theatre for drama, comedy, music, dance, film, children's performances and other arts events, and the space is also available for private functions and performances.
Our Cellar Club provides a smaller, more intimate performance setting with 65 seats. We use the space for selected performances and events, providing an alternative setting to our main theatre for smaller-scale entertainment and private functions.
Our Gallery Café Bar provides a social and hospitality space within the venue. We use it as part of the visitor experience around performances and events, while the wider venue also supports exhibitions and community activities.
