The Riverside Stadium is a major sporting and events venue on the banks of the River Tees in Middlesbrough. Opened in 1995, it replaced Ayresome Park as the home of Middlesbrough Football Club. The stadium has developed beyond its football function and operates as one of the area's larger corporate hospitality, conference and event venues. Its event facilities are centred around a collection of hospitality suites, lounges, executive boxes and conference rooms located within the stadium. These spaces can be configured for business meetings, conferences, exhibitions, dinners, awards ceremonies, Christmas parties, private celebrations and matchday hospitality. The venue benefits from views across the pitch and, from some areas, the River Tees. The Riverside Stadium is particularly suitable for larger corporate events because its facilities can support presentations, catering, networking and entertainment within the same building. Smaller rooms can also be used for meetings and breakout sessions, making the stadium suitable for organisations that require multiple spaces during an event. The stadium itself has a football capacity of approximately 34,742, but this should not be confused with its private-event capacity. Event-room capacities are substantially smaller and vary according to the individual suite and seating arrangement.
