Tolson Memorial Museum

@ervfqg

Tolson Memorial Museum is a historic museum and cultural venue located within Ravensknowle Park on Wakefield Road in Moldgreen, Huddersfield. The museum presents the history of Huddersfield and its people through collections covering archaeology, Roman finds, textiles, transport, natural history, local history, the First World War and the suffragist movement. It occupies a historic building within attractive parkland, providing a distinctive alternative to conventional conference and event venues. Kirklees Council actively makes its museums available for room hire, identifying them as suitable for training sessions, away days, conferences, meetings and other functions. Tolson Museum is therefore relevant to an event-centre database, although it should be categorised differently from commercial hotels and dedicated conference centres. The surrounding Ravensknowle Park provides additional opportunities for outdoor events. Kirklees describes the park as suitable for events including music festivals, funfairs, children's galas and family fun days, with approximately 50 parking spaces associated with the park. Visitor facilities include a small refreshments area, museum shop, toilets, baby-changing facilities, an accessible toilet, hearing loop and free parking. The ground floor is accessible by a rear ramp, but the upper floor is accessible only by stairs because there is no lift.
