National Trust – Treasurer's House

@fannba

Treasurer's House is an exceptional historic-house venue in the heart of York, tucked immediately behind York Minster. The property has a history extending from the Roman period through the medieval era and into the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Frank Green purchased the house in 1897 and transformed it into the elaborate town house seen today, filling it with antiques, paintings, textiles and other objects from different periods. He donated the property and its collection to the National Trust in 1930, making it the first house given to the organisation complete with its collection. The house contains 13 historic rooms, carefully maintained as part of its museum collection. Its intimate scale and highly decorated interiors make it particularly appropriate for bespoke private functions, corporate gatherings, receptions and heritage-themed events rather than very large conferences. Cvent currently lists capacity at 100 standing and 65 seated. A major attraction is the award-winning garden, which provides a secluded green space in central York with views towards York Minster. The property also has a café and visitor facilities.
