Jervaulx Abbey Cloister Grounds

Set among the atmospheric ruins of one of England’s largest privately owned Cistercian abbeys, our Cloister Grounds offer a remarkable setting where history, nature and celebration come together. We give couples the opportunity to hold ceremonies surrounded by ancient stonework, wildflowers and the peaceful landscape of the Yorkshire Dales. Our Cloisters can accommodate up to 200 guests for wedding ceremonies, while the surrounding Abbey grounds provide a natural setting for reception drinks, photographs and time together after the ceremony. We also have several other locations across the grounds, including the Chapter House, Summer House and Paddock, allowing us to create different experiences for intimate occasions and larger celebrations. Beyond weddings, our historic setting has welcomed religious services, touring theatre companies, photography, filming and music videos. Our 120 acres of parkland add another dimension to the experience, with walks, open countryside and tranquil views. We continue to care for this special place while sharing its history and character with visitors.
