Baldersby Park

@fp2cjm

Baldersby Park is a historic country estate and landscape park situated near Topcliffe, approximately six miles west of Thirsk and five miles north-east of Ripon in North Yorkshire. The park was historically known as Newby Park and provides the setting for a Palladian Revival country house constructed between 1718 and 1730 for Sir William Robinson. The wider landscape contains historic features including a lake or fishpond/canal, obelisks, a circular temple, woodland and a historic deer shelter. Its principal value as an event location is its extensive outdoor parkland, which allows temporary event infrastructure to be installed for festivals and other large-scale events. The site is best known publicly as the home of the Deer Shed Festival, which has operated at Baldersby Park for many years and continues to use the site for its annual programme. Current event listings show Baldersby Park hosting the 2026 Deer Shed Festival. The site has also hosted heritage, garden and educational activities. Base Camp, an outdoor learning operation, uses part of Baldersby Park and describes its setting as 90 acres of private country parkland.

The main parkland provides Baldersby Park's principal large-scale event environment. The open landscape can accommodate temporary stages, audience areas, vendors, activities and event infrastructure. It is particularly associated with Deer Shed Festival and other outdoor programming rather than fixed conference or banquet functions.
