The Normans is an exclusive-use barn wedding and events venue at Normans Farm in Bilbrough, approximately 20 minutes from York. The venue occupies a restored 18th-century working farm that has been in the Robinson family for three generations. Owners Oliver and Laura Robinson transformed the farm following their own wedding, combining historic agricultural buildings and rustic features with contemporary design, lighting and event facilities. The venue is organised around five interconnected areas: The Stables Bar, Ceremony Barn, Courtyard, Grain Shed and Cow Stalls & Tack Room. The layout is deliberately designed so that different areas are used as the event progresses, creating movement between ceremony, drinks reception, dining and evening entertainment. The Ceremony Barn retains exposed brick walls, timber trusses and a high vaulted ceiling, while the Grain Shed provides the principal dining and party environment. The south-facing Courtyard provides an outdoor reception area with landscaped planting, integrated seating and a central water feature. The venue provides catering through The Hog & Apple Food Co., an in-house bar operation, tables and chairs, ambient lighting, heating, dance-floor facilities and washrooms. On-site accommodation includes The Cottage and The Granary.
The Ceremony Barn is a restored former threshing barn featuring exposed brick walls, a high vaulted ceiling and substantial wooden roof trusses. Cascading fairy lights create its signature atmosphere. It is fully licensed for civil marriage ceremonies and can also be converted into an indoor reception area when weather prevents use of the Courtyard.
The Grain Shed is the principal dining and evening-party space. The converted agricultural building combines white-washed timber walls with a fabric-lined, fairy-lit ceiling. It contains a bar, stage and dance floor and is designed to transform from wedding breakfast dining into an evening entertainment space.
The south-facing Courtyard is the central outdoor area at The Normans. It features landscaped lawns, Buxus hedges, integrated seating and a contemporary central water feature. A louvred pergola provides sheltered space, while direct connections to the Stables Bar, Cow Stalls and other buildings allow events to continue indoors if weather changes.
