The Haybergill Centre is a peaceful retreat and residential group venue set within three acres of mature woodland near Warcop, Appleby-in-Westmorland. We are designed around creating a calm, nurturing environment where groups can step away from their usual surroundings and focus on retreat, reflection, learning or shared activities. Our eco-friendly timber buildings sit alongside Haybergill House and give us a setting that feels closely connected to the surrounding countryside. Our main room is spacious and airy, with flexible lightweight seating that can be rearranged or removed to suit different activities, while our dining room can also be used as a second working area. We regularly welcome groups for yoga, mindfulness and spiritual retreats, as well as workshops, training and other residential programmes. Our grounds provide plenty of space to walk, relax and simply enjoy the surroundings. We aim to provide a caring, flexible and unobtrusive environment where organisers and participants can concentrate on the purpose of their time with us.
We offer our main room as a spacious, airy activity and gathering space, with seating that can be easily rearranged or removed to suit different requirements. The official licensing record permits up to 80 people seated in rows, 50 with tables and chairs, or 100 seated around the room/dancing.
Our dining room provides a second substantial indoor area, with an oak floor and enough flexibility to be used as an additional working space when a retreat or group programme requires it. A specific capacity is not officially published on our website.
We have three acres of mature woodland and shrubs surrounding the Centre, giving groups additional outdoor space to walk, relax and spend time away from the main rooms.
