We are the George Hotel, a traditional country hotel situated in the historic village of Chollerford, near Hexham in Northumberland. Set beside the River Tyne and close to Hadrian’s Wall, our hotel offers a peaceful countryside setting while remaining conveniently accessible from Newcastle and the wider North East. We provide comfortable accommodation across 47 bedrooms, together with a restaurant, bar and attractive riverside outdoor areas where guests can relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery. Our facilities also make us suitable for meetings, conferences, private dining, celebrations and other group occasions. We offer free Wi-Fi and on-site parking, while our restaurant and bar provide catering options for guests and private functions. Our location makes us particularly appealing for visitors exploring Hadrian’s Wall, the Tyne Valley and Northumberland. We can also accommodate groups and business gatherings within our meeting facilities, making us suitable for both corporate and social events.
We call this our Kielder meeting room. It is our larger meeting space, measuring approximately 97 square metres. Historically, it has accommodated up to 70 guests in theatre style, 60 for receptions and 40 for banquets, with classroom and U-shaped layouts also available.
Our River Room is the smaller of our two historically documented meeting rooms, measuring approximately 41 square metres. It has accommodated up to 40 guests theatre style, 50 for receptions and 16 for banquets, with smaller classroom and U-shaped configurations.
