Lancrigg is our family-owned country house and wedding venue at the foot of Helm Crag in Grasmere, within the beautiful Lake District. We combine the character of our historic Grade II-listed country house with our lovingly restored Lakeland barn and 31 acres of private woodland, gardens and open fields. Our estate has roots dating back to the 1600s and has a long literary and scientific heritage, with historic associations including William Wordsworth, Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin. For weddings, our barn provides a versatile open-plan setting with exposed wooden beams and spectacular fell views, while our country house offers a more intimate setting for smaller celebrations. We can accommodate up to 108 seated guests in the barn and provide 17 en-suite bedrooms for up to 42 overnight guests. Beyond weddings, we welcome private parties, milestone celebrations, corporate retreats, private dinners and other events. Our grounds also give us plenty of space for outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions, garden parties, team activities and marquee celebrations.
