Thicket Priory

@rlgbl7

Thicket Priory is a Grade II-listed Victorian country house in the village of Thorganby, approximately 20 minutes from York. The property has been restored as a private, exclusive-use venue, combining historic architecture with modern event facilities. The estate provides a residential setting in which guests can stay together for an entire wedding or private-event weekend. The venue is particularly notable for its 35–36 en-suite bedrooms, allowing approximately 70–80 guests to stay on site. Its principal event facilities include a magnificent ballroom, reception rooms, the Gryffin Bar, a private chapel and numerous ceremony locations. Outdoor options include the gardens, private lake and bandstand, giving organisers alternatives for ceremonies, photographs, drinks receptions and other activities. The main ballroom can accommodate approximately 160 guests for a seated wedding breakfast, while the venue's wider event capacity is reported at up to 250 standing. The extensive grounds and multiple rooms also allow different parts of a multi-day event to take place in separate areas, rather than having the entire celebration centred around one function room. Thicket Priory is therefore particularly strong for exclusive-use weddings, residential celebrations, private parties, corporate retreats and multi-day events where accommodation and event space need to be combined in one property.
