The Yorkshire Arboretum gives us a beautiful 120-acre setting within the historic Castle Howard Estate near York. We provide a peaceful landscape of trees, lakes, ponds, meadows and sweeping grassed areas, creating a distinctive environment for visitors, educational activities and private events. Our Visitor Centre and grounds are available for private parties and events outside our normal opening hours, while our Cruck House provides a dedicated setting for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies. Our lakeside lawn also offers an attractive outdoor setting for marquee receptions. Alongside private events, we host a varied programme of horticultural talks, exhibitions, craft workshops, guided tours and outdoor activities throughout the year. We welcome groups and can create bespoke itineraries incorporating visits, tours and refreshments. Our facilities also include a café, shop, woodland playground and outdoor education opportunities. Set within the wider Castle Howard Estate, we offer organisers and visitors a distinctive combination of natural beauty, open space and historic surroundings, providing a flexible setting for celebrations, educational activities, community events and private gatherings.

Our contemporary, purpose-built timber structure features large panoramic picture windows looking directly out over the water and accommodates flexible boardrooms or classroom configurations.
