Peaseholme House is an exquisite Grade II* listed Georgian mansion located on St Saviour's Place in the historic heart of York, England. Built in 1752 by local craftsman Richard Heworth, this architectural treasure is widely attributed to John Carr, one of the most prominent 18th-century architects in Northern England. The building boasts a striking, unique facade featuring rich red-orange brick in Flemish bond on the front, contrasted by buff brick at the rear, all centered around a magnificent entry doorcase framed by classical Ionic columns. Saved from obscurity in 1975 by the York Civic Trust—which demolished an obstructive warehouse to reveal its hidden beauty—the property underwent a meticulous restoration. During this project, a stunning, highly ornate decorative plaster ceiling was salvaged from the demolished Bishophill House and re-erected inside the ground floor. Today, Peaseholme House seamlessly blends historical grandeur with modern utility. Operated by York Associates, the property serves as a premier corporate venue and executive training centre. Its elegant interior features high-ceilinged seminar rooms, a contemporary breakout coffee lounge, and an outdoor garden terrace, offering a refined, fully equipped setting for professional development, business meetings, and international delegates.
This is the jewel of Peaseholme House, widely utilized for executive roundtables, formal corporate meetings, or presentation-style configurations. The room is defined by historic dark wood furnishings and its standout centerpiece: a highly ornate, decorative plaster ceiling carefully salvaged and re-erected here from the historic Bishophill House during the building's 1975 restoration.
Designed as a communal networking and relaxation hub for delegates and professionals, this room features a modern, comfortable aesthetic with ample natural light. Complete with relaxed seating, couches, tables, and access to fresh refreshments, it functions perfectly as an informal business hub or a post-meeting decompression area.
