Doncaster Mansion House

@03gxs8

Doncaster Mansion House is an exceptional historic event venue occupying a prominent position on High Street in the centre of Doncaster. The building was constructed between 1745 and 1749 to provide the Corporation of Doncaster with a prestigious setting for civic entertaining. Unlike many English Mansion Houses, it was designed primarily as a place for corporate entertainment rather than as the mayor's principal residence. Its architect was James Paine, whose work also included important country houses and civic buildings elsewhere in England. Today, the Mansion House is managed by Doncaster Council and offers a collection of highly characterful rooms for meetings, conferences, cultural events, private functions, receptions and other gatherings. The building's event spaces include the Ballroom, Drawing Room, Civic Parlour, Front and Rear Committee Rooms, Gallery and Peace Window Room, and Salon. The spaces are individual, allowing the building to serve both small corporate meetings and larger receptions. Thr strongest selling point is the historic environment: ornate Georgian interiors, chandeliers, painted ceilings, period portraits, decorative plasterwork, the grand staircase and the Peace Window provide a setting quite different from a modern conference centre. The building has historically been available for weddings, concerts, conferences, private tours, tea dances and afternoon teas.
