Preston Hall

Preston Hall is a historic former country house situated within the extensive grounds of Preston Park on the banks of the River Tees in Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees. The historic building is now home to Preston Park Museum, which contains galleries and collections documenting the history of Stockton-on-Tees and the wider Tees Valley. The Hall and surrounding parkland are owned and managed by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. The wider Preston Park estate covers approximately 110 acres of parkland and woodland, with riverside and woodland walks, picnic areas, children's play facilities, a café and public toilets. The park is also an established location for organised events and outdoor activities. The grounds contain a large open showground/event field in front of the Hall. Historical council documentation describes Preston Park as a major outdoor events space, and the showground has been used for large temporary structures and organised events. The site has recently undergone significant investment, including a new two-storey museum extension containing large interconnected exhibition spaces and the Spence Café. The new facilities opened in 2025 and substantially expanded the site's exhibition and visitor offer.
