Thornaby Pavilion is a long-established community leisure centre situated in the heart of Thornaby town centre. The facility occupies the upper floors of Wrightson House and has served the local community since its opening in 1968. It combines sports, leisure, community activities and event facilities, making it considerably different from a conventional hotel or dedicated conference centre. The centre contains a large multi-use sports hall, indoor bowls facilities, squash courts, fitness facilities, studios and childcare provision. It also provides a number of rooms that can be hired for meetings, presentations, training and community events. The current Tees Active meeting-hire service identifies Watson Hall, Stockwell Room, Slater/Draycott Room, Room 7 and Main Hall as bookable spaces. The Watson Hall is particularly distinctive because it has a stage and has historically been used for performances and cultural activities. The Main Hall is the largest event facility and is connected to the centre's sports-hall infrastructure. Historical council documentation describes two four-court sports halls that can be combined into an eight-court area, with gallery seating. For meetings and corporate events, the centre provides free Wi-Fi, digital presentation equipment, IT/AV facilities, dry-wipe boards and flip charts, air conditioning, telephone facilities and free parking.
Watson Hall is a dedicated hall within Thornaby Pavilion and is one of the centre's currently advertised bookable spaces. Historically, the hall included a stage and was associated with performances, drama and cultural activities. It is therefore particularly suitable for meetings, community events, presentations, performances and other indoor gatherings.
The Stockwell Room is one of Thornaby Pavilion's smaller dedicated meeting spaces. It is currently listed by Tees Active for meeting and event hire and can be configured according to the requirements of the booking. It is best suited to meetings, training, workshops, presentations and smaller community or business gatherings.
Tees Active currently lists the Slater/Draycott Room as one meeting/event-hire option at Thornaby Pavilion. The combined naming is important: it should be treated as one database space rather than automatically creating separate Slater and Draycott rooms. It is suitable for smaller meetings, training, presentations and community activities.
Room 7 is a smaller bookable room within Thornaby Pavilion and is explicitly included in Tees Active's current meeting-space hire list. It is intended for smaller meetings and activities rather than large conferences. The venue does not currently publish a numerical capacity, so no estimated capacity should be entered into your database.
