Barnsley Town Hall

Barnsley Town Hall gives us a distinctive civic setting in the centre of Barnsley, combining historic character with a modern role as a venue for meetings, exhibitions, events and special occasions. Our building has evolved beyond its traditional governmental purpose and now incorporates Experience Barnsley, the town's award-winning museum and discovery centre, alongside the Barnsley archives. We provide an atmospheric alternative to conventional hotels and purpose-built conference centres, particularly for organisers seeking a venue with a strong sense of local history and civic identity. Our central position makes it convenient for guests attending events in Barnsley town centre, while the wider council venue-hire service provides additional professional event facilities across the borough. We also remain an important setting for civic life. Barnsley's annual Mayor Making ceremony takes place within our building, while Council meetings and other formal civic proceedings continue to be held here. Alongside civic functions, we welcome meetings, exhibitions, conferences, community gatherings and selected private events. We are also promoted as a distinctive wedding venue, offering couples the opportunity to celebrate within one of Barnsley's most recognisable historic buildings. For organisers seeking a venue that combines heritage, civic importance and a central town-centre location, Barnsley Town Hall provides a memorable setting for professional, cultural and private occasions.
