@udtxwc

Experience Barnsley Museum & Discovery Centre is a museum, heritage and cultural venue located within the historic Barnsley Town Hall on Church Street in the centre of Barnsley. The museum opened in 2013 and presents the history of the town and wider borough through archaeological objects, photographs, documents, films, interactive displays and stories contributed by local residents. The venue provides a distinctive setting for educational activities, community gatherings, workshops, talks, exhibitions and selected private events. Its principal dedicated activity space is the Learning Lab, which is used for school sessions, workshops, talks and children's activities and can also be hired by local community groups. The museum also makes its galleries available for hire, including evening functions. Barnsley Council's venue pricing information specifically lists both Learning Lab hire and gallery hire at Experience Barnsley. The wider building contains the Barnsley Archives and Local Studies service, providing an additional research and heritage dimension. Current accessibility provision includes wheelchairs, portable seating, hearing-loop equipment and sensory backpacks.
