The Old Deanery is a distinctive historic events venue located on Minster Road in the heart of Ripon, North Yorkshire, in the shadow of Ripon Cathedral. We are a Jacobean mansion dating from 1625, with later additions including an extension from 1799. Our historic architecture, landscaped gardens and central location provide an unusual setting for private and corporate events. We have previously operated as an exclusive-use weddings and events venue and continue to offer event hire, although our wedding packages are being redesigned and new wedding bookings are temporarily unavailable for a few months. General event enquiries remain possible and are handled through consultation and bespoke quotations. We can accommodate up to 80 seated daytime guests and offer exclusive use of our public areas, grounds and gardens for qualifying events. Our spaces include the Garden Room, Cathedral Dining Room, Dean's Dining Room, lounge and Sanctuary Room, with the principal dining areas capable of being combined for larger functions. We provide accommodation, catering, a private bar, gardens, reception and breakout areas, parking and a cinema room. We are particularly suited to weddings, private dining, celebrations, corporate meetings, intimate conferences and exclusive-use events where a historic setting is an important part of the experience.
The Dean's Dining Room is a historic dining and function space within The Old Deanery. It can be used for intimate private dining and celebrations or combined with the Cathedral Dining Room to create a larger event setting. The combined arrangement provides seating for up to approximately 80 daytime guests.

The Cinema Room is a specialist entertainment and event space available for hire at The Old Deanery. It provides an alternative environment to the dining and reception rooms and can be incorporated into private or exclusive-use events.
Tucked privately behind the 17th-century mansion, the extensive Walled Gardens offer an idyllic outdoor event setting. Framed by sweeping willow trees, lush seasonal greenery, and a secret clearing, the grounds are perfectly suited for open-air drinks, dynamic photography, or anchoring a large event marquee.
