The Castle Cinema

At The Castle Cinema, we bring together the magic of film, historic architecture and a welcoming community atmosphere in Hackney, East London. Originally built in 1913, our independent cinema retains beautiful period features, including ornate plasterwork, a curved ceiling and a distinctive original proscenium arch. We offer two intimate screening rooms and a stylish bar and café, providing flexible options for private screenings, birthday parties, corporate presentations, film premieres, wedding receptions and creative productions. Our facilities include digital projection, surround sound, comfortable seating, a DJ booth and catering options to support different occasions. Guests can also enjoy refreshments, cocktails, coffee and locally sourced drinks in our bar. We work closely with organisers to create memorable experiences, whether they are planning a small private gathering or an exclusive venue celebration. Our team welcomes filmmakers, businesses, families and community groups looking for a distinctive cinema setting.
