Hope Street Xchange is a contemporary enterprise, innovation and events centre operated as part of the University of Sunderland's City Campus. Located at 1–3 Hind Street in Sunderland city centre, directly opposite Sunderland Empire, the building combines serviced workspace for businesses with dedicated conference, meeting and event facilities. It opened in 2017 and is designed as a hub for innovative and creative businesses, start-ups and SMEs. For event organisers, the important feature is its dedicated conferencing provision. The current Venue Sunderland listing identifies the Enterprise Suite, Innovation Suite, Enterprise & Innovation Suite, Pinnacle Suite and Breakout Space. The combined Enterprise & Innovation Suite accommodates up to 180 delegates, making it the largest published event configuration at the venue. The building provides state-of-the-art AV, free high-speed Wi-Fi, an on-site café, in-house catering, accessible facilities, meeting rooms and reception services. The Enterprise Suite additionally has natural light, air conditioning and ambient lighting. Its central Sunderland location makes it accessible by bus, train and Metro, with the University and Park Lane Metro stations nearby. Visitor parking is available through the University car park, although the venue asks visitors to book parking in advance.
The Enterprise Suite is Hope Street Xchange's principal individual conference space. Measuring approximately 110–112 m², it is designed for formal gatherings, conferences, meetings and product launches. It provides state-of-the-art AV, natural light, air conditioning and ambient lighting, with optional breakout rooms available when required.
The Innovation Suite is the smaller sister space to the Enterprise Suite. Measuring approximately 55 m², it provides a more intimate environment for meetings, conferences, workshops and business events. It can also be combined with the Enterprise Suite to create the larger Enterprise & Innovation configuration.
The Pinnacle is a top-floor boardroom with views over the surrounding area. It is positioned as the venue's premium intimate meeting space and is particularly suitable for board meetings, client presentations and smaller business occasions.
In addition to the main event spaces, a range of high specification smaller meeting rooms suitable for client or team meetings are also available to building residents free of charge (based on a reasonable use policy). This provides businesses with the ideal space to meet visitors, present to staff or hold interviews, all without incurring further cost.
