Gateshead International Stadium

Gateshead International Stadium is one of the North East's major multi-purpose sports and event venues. Located on Neilson Road in Gateshead, the venue is best known for athletics and football but has also hosted major sporting competitions, exhibitions, trade shows and large-scale entertainment events. The stadium has a long history of international athletics and has hosted world-class competitions and record-breaking performances. The main stadium has a published overall capacity of approximately 11,800 people, making it one of the largest event venues in the Gateshead/Newcastle area. Its event offering extends beyond the outdoor arena: the venue has meeting and conference facilities, indoor sports facilities and adaptable rooms for meetings, training sessions and conferences. The current Better facilities page states that five adaptable rooms can be combined into a larger event area, with smaller rooms and open spaces also available. The NewcastleGateshead convention guide records seven meeting rooms, a 900-person theatre capacity, a 500-person banquet capacity and a 1,200 m² largest exhibition space. Other facilities include an eight-lane athletics track, athletics field, indoor athletics training facilities, sports hall, football pitches, fitness facilities, Wi-Fi, AV equipment, parking and catering. The venue is therefore capable of hosting everything from smaller meetings and training sessions to conferences, exhibitions, sporting competitions and major outdoor events.
