For over 350 years, the Royal Society has provided an exceptional setting for important scientific, academic and professional gatherings in the heart of London. Our historic building at 6–9 Carlton House Terrace overlooks The Mall and St James’s Park, while our 12 event spaces offer a variety of styles and capacities for meetings, conferences, lectures, receptions and dinners. We can accommodate events from 10 to 500 guests, supported by our dedicated conference team, professional catering partners and on-site technical specialists. Every room benefits from natural daylight, air conditioning and Wi-Fi, while our event spaces are equipped with modern audiovisual technology. We also offer hybrid-event, webcasting, filming and recording solutions for suitable events. Our rooms combine historic character with modern event facilities, creating a flexible environment for scientific, technological, engineering, academic and medical gatherings, as well as qualifying charitable events. We are committed to delivering well-supported events for our clients and their guests.
City of London Room 1 is one of our smaller event rooms and works well for meetings, dinners and receptions. We can also arrange theatre, boardroom, hollow-square and cabaret-style layouts, with natural views towards St James’s Park.
Our City of London Room 2 provides an intimate setting for smaller meetings, dinners and receptions. We offer several flexible layouts, making this room suitable for focused professional gatherings and smaller hospitality-led events.
City of London Room 3 gives another flexible smaller-room option for meetings, dinners and receptions. We can arrange theatre, boardroom, hollow-square, U-shape, cabaret and dining layouts to suit different event requirements.
Our Conference Room is a flexible first-floor space with large windows providing generous daylight and views towards Waterloo Gardens. We accommodate meetings, presentations, receptions and dinners in a range of practical layouts.
The Council Room is a prestigious setting for high-level board meetings and smaller press briefings. Our integral oval table includes power outlets, while an adjoining anteroom provides space for beverages, light catering and finger food.
Our Dining Room is an adaptable lower-ground-floor space with a high arched ceiling and large windows. We use it for meetings, dinners, receptions and exhibitions, while the adjoining area can support pre-dinner receptions, coffee breaks and exhibitions.
Our Kohn Centre combines wood-panelled marquetry, portraits of former Royal Society presidents and impressive views over St James’s Park and The Mall. We use this atmospheric space for medium-sized conferences, meetings and dining events.
Our Venetian-style Marble Hall provides an elegant setting close to the main entrance. We use it for receptions, dinners, registration and catering, particularly when paired with the Kohn Centre, while its historic decoration also suits exhibitions.
The Wellcome Trust Lecture Hall is our largest meeting room, providing a fully air-conditioned setting for conferences, meetings, dinners and receptions. We offer sophisticated audiovisual technology, a technician's box, speaker platform and state-of-the-art webcasting facilities.
Our Wolfson Library Suite Room 1 offers an ornate historic environment restored to its 1890s appearance. We provide flexible layouts for meetings, dinners and receptions, together with views towards The Mall, St James’s Park and Waterloo Gardens.
Wolfson Library Suite Room 2 gives an elegant, adaptable environment for meetings, dinners and receptions. We can arrange theatre, boardroom, hollow-square, U-shape, cabaret and dining layouts, allowing the room to support different event formats.
Our Wolfson Library Suite Room 3 is the smallest of the three Wolfson rooms, providing an intimate setting for meetings and dinners. We can accommodate theatre, boardroom, dinner, cabaret and reception arrangements for smaller gatherings.
