The Dome is one of Doncaster's major multi-purpose leisure and entertainment venues, located at Doncaster Lakeside on Bawtry Road. Operated by Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust, the Grade II-listed building combines sport, recreation, entertainment and event facilities under its distinctive dome-shaped structure. The current venue describes itself as a leading sports, leisure and entertainment destination with more than 50 activities taking place under one roof.
For event organisers, The Dome is particularly notable for its large and adaptable Main Hall, supported by a range of smaller meeting and function spaces. Historical conference-venue specifications describe the Main Hall as capable of hosting very large conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs, concerts and other large-scale events, while smaller rooms provide options for board meetings, training, interviews, workshops and breakout sessions.
The venue also functions as an established entertainment destination. Its programme includes live music, comedy, theatre productions, exhibitions, family events and special events. In 2026, for example, the Main Hall was used for a large football watch-party event featuring multiple large screens, live music and bars.
Beyond event facilities, The Dome contains swimming facilities known as The Lagoons, the Ice Caps split-level ice rink, fitness facilities, cycling facilities, play areas and the Icebreaker sports bar. This combination makes it substantially different from a conventional conference centre: organisers can potentially combine business events with leisure, entertainment and team activities at the same destination.
