Doncaster Minster

@phgo5l

Surrounded by the character and grandeur of central Doncaster, this Grade I listed landmark provides an atmospheric setting for events that call for something beyond a conventional conference venue. The present building was designed by renowned Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and constructed between 1854 and 1858 after the medieval church on the site was destroyed by fire. While continuing its role as an active Anglican place of worship, the Minster has developed into an important arts, cultural and community venue. Businesses, colleges, charities and other organisations use the building for concerts, exhibitions, networking events, festivals, professional performances and community programmes. Its impressive Gothic Revival interior creates a memorable backdrop, with a spacious nave, stained-glass windows and historic organ adding distinctive character to presentations, performances and receptions. The venue has welcomed programmes ranging from professional concerts and touring shows to exhibitions, charity events and cultural projects. Civic occasions, weddings, funerals, educational visits and heritage activities also form part of the Minster’s wider programme. With its combination of architectural grandeur, cultural significance and adaptable event use, the venue offers organisers an opportunity to host gatherings in one of Doncaster’s most recognisable historic spaces.
