Ripon Cathedral

Ripon Cathedral is one of North Yorkshire's most distinctive heritage and event venues, with a history extending back more than 1,350 years. Located on Minster Road in the centre of Ripon, the cathedral is a living place of worship as well as a major visitor attraction, cultural venue and gathering place. Its architecture, medieval heritage, stained glass, historic organ and dramatic Gothic interior provide an unusually atmospheric setting for concerts, performances, ceremonies, exhibitions, talks and private events. The cathedral's Nave is the principal space used for large-scale cultural events. The venue regularly hosts concerts ranging from choral and organ performances to contemporary concerts and other special events. Its current programme also includes fundraising dinners, silent discos, exhibitions and community events, demonstrating the flexibility of the space beyond religious services. The Choir provides a more intimate and formal setting and is listed as accommodating up to 150 people for weddings by a specialist wedding-venue directory. The cathedral also has the West End Forecourt and churchyard, which can provide photography and supporting outdoor areas.
